Since none of the others had seemed interested in the case Sylphie had found, the fem had just huffed and went off to her room. They said some other hunter could handle it for once. They were on holiday. Well fuck them! Sylphie would take care of it on her own then. The fem had packed her things and waited. In the dead of the night, when no one should have been awake, she snuck out.
Well she would have if she hadn't been stopped by the sounds of two people conversing. It was originating from Ryan's room, and she knew she was only able to hear them because her enhanced hearing. She should have continued on, got out of dodge, but she stayed and listened.
"We can't go back Ryan. They think we've died for good! At least for me they do. Besides it's been seventeen months since they saw us. How do you think they'll react to seeing two people they think are dead!" Gavin whisper yelled.
"You don't think I know that! They are our family! Unlike you, i didn't get amnesia as soon as I got sucked from this dimension." Ryan said, causing a tense silence to form. Sylphie knew Gavin was seething with anger, she could practically taste it.
"Listen here Ryan. I told you never to bring that up again. Beside, you're not the one who spent six months in grieving. You're not the one ho fucking watched the crew fall to pieces. You're not the one continually threw themselves at death just to feel something!" Gavin said, his voice going from quiet to yelling.
"Gavin-" Ryan said, only to be cut off
"No just. Let's just stop. I can't fight with you.... Not when I've lost so much....." Gavin mumbled silently. Sylphie heard the sounds of shuffling and realized Gavin was leaving. The door opened, revealing a slightly teary eyed Brit, and a mercenary looking like he wanted to just take it all back.
"Sylphie, how much did you hear?"
"Um, from when you told Ryan you can't go back..." She said, toeing the ground softly. Gavin didn't say anything, just slumped down a bit more.
"So, I'm guessing this Los Santos was your home?"
"Was..... Then things happened." Gavin said simply.
"I'm going there. There's a vampire running loose and I intend to take care of it." Sylphie said.
"No you're not. This isn't a regular hunt. There are people there who would kidnap you in an instant." Ryan said, moving over to stand beside Gavin.
"I'm half Archangel, I can handle it." She said.
"Sorry but no. We aren't letting you go alone. Beside me and Gav know the lay of the land." The mercenary said.
"But."
"No buts Sylphie. Trust us, this isn't a city you want be alone in." Ryan said. Gavin sighed softly.
"We can probably stay at one of the safehouses. There should be things there for us." Gavin said, resigned in his fate of going back to Los Santos.
"Well, Let's go then!" Sylphie said, grabbing her bag and then both of their arms. With a flap of her wings she teleported them to a road just outside the city.
"Jesus fucking christ! Don't do that!" Gavin said, a bit disoriented from the sudden change in scenery.
"Sorry. It's the fastest way of travel." Sylphie said.
"Okay. First, we get a car. Second we go to safe house. Though you'll have to steall the car Sylphie." Ryan said.
"Why?"
"Because we want to keep a low profile and both of us are know in this city." Was the simple answer. Sylphie huffed at that.
"Fine. I'm driving then." Sylphie said before heading off. It took a while, but eventually she found a car, and with a slew of apologies she 'borrowed' the car and drove back to the immortals.
"We'll tell you were to go." Ryan said as they got in. And so the trio drove off to an apartment near the inner city. Gavin brought out keys from seemingly nowhere (really a plotted plant) and opened the door.
"Safe house sweet safe house." Gavin said, collapsing into the couch. Ryan simply went into the kitchen and sighed.
"We'll be needing some food." He said as he walked back in.
"I'll go out later. For now, sleep." The halfing said as she walked past them into the bedroom. Now normally she would take the floor, but not tonight. She was stealing this bed whether they liked it or not.
It was instant her falling asleep. The two immortals both knew they weren't going to get any sleep, being so close, yet so far away from the people they considered family. Oh how they both wanted to go back to the crew, but it wasn't a choice. Not anymore.
In the morning Sylphie woke up to the sound of people in the kitchen and the smell of pancakes. After walking in, she saw Ryan in an apron and Gavin nowhere to be found.
"Where's Gav?"
"He went out to get more food, find out more about the case." Ryan said, setting a plate down in front of the fem. Sylphie gave him an appreciative smile and dug in happily.
It was little over an hour and a half till Gavin came back. He came back with bags filled with groceries. The brit dropped them off on the counter.
"Okay, so it's most definitely a vamp. Stopped by the coroner's and took a look as well as asked him about it. Most of the vics were pretty woman that were picked up at clubs." Gavin said with a look at Sylphie.
"Aw man really? You know I don't like clubs..." She said already knowing what he was about to ask.
"It'll only be one day, two at most. Based on the places he's hit." Gavin said. With a few grumbles from Sylphie, she agreed.
The two had dolled her up, making the half archangel look stunning. Of course she also had that small bit of charisma that affected most humans thanks to her rampant powers. The fem huffed at that.
I guess it didn't hurt to be societally pretty as well. In all honesty, she hated makeup with a passion, except lipstick.
Sylphie was dressed in a skin tight black dress that fitted to her form perfectly, along with dazzling gold jewerly to really make the gold specks in her eyes pop. It seemed like to much to her, but Gavin and Ryan said she looked fine.
"Don't worry, Gav and I will be in the club at all times." Ryan said, straitening out his fancy shirt.
"Yeah! Trust us! We got you Sylphie." Gavin said. The blonde had golden eyeshadow, various gold bracelets, and golden shades. Ryan tssked him slightly
"We're supposed to be undercover, not glaringly obvious."
"So what? I'm not changing mate." Gavin said as he walked out and to the car. He and Ryan were going together while Sylphie would arrive a bit later by über.
As the two immortals left, she was left to ponder. Mostly it was about trivial stuff, like why are there goats in Jamaica. Then the über man came.
The ride was mostly silent, only a few bits of 'how's the weather going' stuff. She smiled as she sent the pay via app and got out, wishing the man good luck.
Sylphie showed her ID to the bouncer and entered the club. It was terribly loud, especially for her sensitive ears, and the strobe lights were making her nausues. Good God. Why did she have to be the bait? She just wanted to not be here. So she took a seat at the bar and ordered a seven up.
"Not a fan of clubs?" Came a soft voice from behind her. The startled sylphie looked back and saw a woman with medium red hair with alluring green eyes. The woman was wearing a low cut blouse and a knee length skirt. All in All Sylphie had to say she was quite gorgeus.
"Not really, too looud and I hate the strobes. I'm only here because my friends wanted to come" The halfa said.
"I hear you. I'm only hear because of my brother." She said, flashing Syl a smile.
"So, what's your name? Mine's Veronica."
"Kaitlynn, Kait for short." She said, giving away her vessels name, Like who the fuck names their child Sylphie, minus the lord of darkness and his wife. (The only normal child they named was Kendall)
The two chit chatted for a while, until the club was beginning to slow down as it prepared to close. Damn she forgot her directive. Oh well, at least she had fun. She looked over her texts all from Ryan who said they'd meet her at home and rediscuss tactics.
"Wow it's late. I should get back to my flat." Sylphie said, the small british accent that she had sometimes popping up.
"Do you have a ride? If not, I'll walk you Kait." Veronica offered with a smile.
"Thanks, I'd like that" Syl said. Maybe this was the beginning of a wonderful friendship. That would be nice since she really only knew the people within the group.
The two woman made their way out and began walking back. It was about 5 in the morning, and Sylphie knew that if she was fully mortal, she'd be dead on her feet. but thanks to papa Luci, she was doing all right, just semi drowsy.
It happened as they were walking by a dark ally, something threw her into it. But thanks again to papa Luci as she was able to twist around enough that she stopped her momentum super hero style. Her eyes narrowed as she heard a small chuckle.
"So, you're a survivor? All the others had hit the wall, broke a few bones." A voice said, a voice that sounded like the one she had talked to for hours. No. Syl felt herself become saddened by this as Veronica stalked towards her, mouth contorting to grow fangs.
"No matter. I'll still have you~" The Vamp said. She didn't have a blade, Gavin and Ryan were at the apartment, and she highly doubted help would come. She felt tears well up as she took a defensive stand. She thought she made a friend. Damn it.
The vampire charge ad Sylphie easily dodged. She could teleport away. But then Veronica would be free to feed. No, the only option was to take her out now.
They danced around each other for a bit, neither able to make a move on the other.
"I'm impressed Kait. Where'd you learn to fight"
"My father, Lucifer the archangel." Syl said, deciding to try and shock Veronica. It only made her laugh.
"Be serious!"
"I am!" Syl said, eyes glowing gold as she teleported behind Vero. The vamp confused tillshe felt a burning hand grab her.
"Be gone foul creature." Sylphie said before smiting the Vampire. and it worked, leaving nothing but a charred husk behind. She took a deep breath and teleported back. Ryan and Gav were passed out on the couch, she'd talk to them later.
It was mid day before anyone woke. Sylphie had gone off to sleep in the bedroom while the immortals took the futon. Of course Ryan was first up, followed by Sylphie then Gavin.
"So plans?" Gavin asked.
"We go home. The vamp's dead got her last night." Sylphie said, causing the two to stop and stare.
"What? I got ambushed walking home." She said.
"Okay then. Tleport when ready." Gav said.
"Nope. too tired. We'll drive home in the new car." Syl said with a yawn. So with that they began loading the car. Not that they had much, they just wanted to leave no trace.
Of course nothing could go their way beacuse a man on a speeding motorbike screeched to a stop in front of thei building as the three were exiting. The male threw off his helmet, revealing his brown hair, top dyed in blue and headed for the building but froze when he saw them.
"N-No... I'm hallucinating. They're dead. Especially him!" The man said backing away. Syl looked back at her companions, who were just as shocked as the biker.
"Jeremy..." Gavin said softly, the first to move. 'Jeremy' backed away, shakng hs head, tears falling down his face.
"This is jst a cruel dream," The blue haired man muttered.
"You aren't Lil' J. it's me and Gav." Ryan said, slowly walking down te stairs. The tension was palpable as the Mercenary went over and drew Jeremy into a hug, which Gavin soon joined. Syl hung back, feeling like an intruder as the three talked.
She watched the two she knew change in personality. It wasn't as noticeable in Gavin, as he was just a bit more excitable, but Ryan? It was a whole new person. He was more talkative, and actually smiling! The mercenary was also talking, telling this Jeremy of his escapades as a leopard.
"We need to go back to the crew!" Jeremy said. Gavin and Ryan immediately went quiet.
"Jeremy. We can't, how will they react? I saw them how they reacted when Ryan and Michael disappeared!" Gavin said, it sounded like he was heart broken. And he was. This was his family for gods' sake!
"Go." Sylphie said from her spot.
"You need to see them, gain closure at least. They deserve to know what happened to you guys." She said, with a small smile. Gavin gave a reluctant sigh and agreed. With that they climbed in the car and left.
Of course Sylphie had to stay in the car, after all it was a volatile enough situation as it was, a room of five highly emotionally charged immortals who were known for being violent.
So the three made their way to the penthouse. At first the was a lot of disbelief, then a bit of shooting, then a hell of a lot of crying, then a lot of arguing. Geoff wanted them to stay. Jack was she relieved they were alive and just wanted them to come home now and again. Jeremy, Jeremy tried to stay out of it. The crew fought for hours, more than any other time they had been together. In the end, it was rough, but Gavin and Ryan walked away, with a blue haired man in tow.
"Jeremy's coming home with us." Was all Ryan said as they got in and drove off. It was a tense silence the whole way to the bunker.
"Well, um. Now we go and hope that they like him!" Syl said with a small nervous chuckle.
